They land up in a village and tell the locals that they are married and need protection. Meena and Rahul team up and manage to escape together. The police arrest him and send him to Durgeshwar. Rahul realises that he is in a dangerous situation and hence escapes in the middle of the night. Meena convinces Rahul to accompany her and meet her father. She also explains that her father, Durgeshwar, is a powerful mafia head in Tamil Nadu.
The woman, Meena, tells the protagonist that she is running away from a forced marriage to Tangaballi (Nikitin Dheer). However, Rahul himself is unable to get off the Chennai Express. Rahul, a a forty-year-old bachelor living in Mumbai, is asked by his grandmother to immerse ashes of his grandfather in Rameswaram.
